Renewing vows with your partner is a different kind of celebration. It doesn’t carry the pomp and circumstance of a wedding day, but it’s special in its own rite. And this Savannah vow renewal was such a joy to capture, because it was not only shot all around the city I call home, but because of the two people in front of the camera.
Elana and Nate initially came to me about traveling from Austin, Texas to have a vow renewal in Savannah before the pandemic began. And we all know how things went after COVID came into our lives. Cut to them postponing their trip, without knowing when we’d be able to make it happen, but refusing to accept anything other than MAKING it happen, one way or another. So, after a bit of back-and-forth over the course of many months, we finally made it happen.
We adventured all around Savannah – and I mean alllll around! Starting our day at Forsyth Park, we enjoyed the absurdly gorgeous weather and soaked up some sun. Elana’s lemon-print dress from Lulu’s couldn’t have been more fitting for the day! Elana and Nate gave me full reign on what spot would be the perfect place for the two of them to read each other’s vows they wrote to one another, and when we stumbled into one of Savannah’s sun-soaked squares, that had light hitting juuuuust right, I knew that’s where we’d stop.
After reading the vows they wrote to one another, it was off to celebrate! The Historic Histrict here is so, so gorgeous, but there are SO many other facets to Savannah. Enter: the Starland District. This particular area of Savannah is like the Historic District’s cool artsy sister: think graffiti murals, kitschy bars and restaurants, and plenty of hidden artsy gems. We popped into the Starland Yard for drinks and wood-fired pizza, and they finished the day with some adorable photo-booth memories!
